Mysteries cover a broad range of characters and places, but one thing remains the same between them: the thrill of solving a crime. Mysteries and suspense books are written to be page turners, and the best book covers pull you in—anticipating the story that’s about to unfold. In the layout, I wanted to keep it simple, along with elements of terror and mystery. I chose to use minimal color, making the red blood stains stand out. As the book goes on, the blood runs further and further down the pages, while the leading gets tighter and tighter, creating a feeling of drama and tension.
